Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

SceneIt Studio is a desktop video editor for macOS, operated by Daniel Bick, trading as Bytemix Studios ("we", "us", "our") — a sole proprietorship under German law, not a registered legal entity. All references to "Bytemix Studios" refer to Daniel Bick as a natural person. Full contact details are in the imprint. This policy explains how we handle data on this website and in the app.

The short version: SceneIt runs on your Mac. Your projects, media and settings stay on your device — we never receive them. This website collects no personal data beyond the standard server logs your hosting provider keeps for security. There is no account, no tracking, and no analytics.

2. This website

This site is a static informational page. It sets no cookies and uses no analytics, tracking, advertising or fingerprinting of any kind. All resources — fonts, images and videos — are served from our own server; your browser makes no requests to third parties (such as font CDNs or video platforms) when the page loads. When you visit, our hosting provider automatically records standard server access logs — your IP address, the time of the request, the page requested, and your browser's user-agent string — used solely to operate the site and to detect and prevent abuse.

Your choice in the cookie banner is remembered in your browser's local storage — not a cookie itself. Should we later introduce optional cookies (for example for a checkout), they will only be set after you accept, and you can change your choice at any time via "Cookie settings" in the footer.

3. The app

SceneIt runs entirely on your device. Your projects, media library and settings are stored locally on your Mac. We do not operate a backend that receives, stores, or has access to them, and the app does not send usage telemetry or "phone home". Deleting a project or clearing the library removes the data from your device.

4. API keys & AI generation

If you choose to generate voiceover, music, sound effects or imagery, SceneIt uses third-party providers — currently ElevenLabs (voice, music, SFX) and Meshy.ai (images). You provide your own API keys, which are stored locally on your device. When you generate an asset, your prompt and your key are sent directly from your device to the respective provider; we do not intermediate, receive, or store that data. Your use of those services is governed by their own terms and privacy policies — ElevenLabs and Meshy.ai.

5. Data we do not collect

No accounts, no login, no passwords.
No analytics, tracking scripts, advertising, or cross-site fingerprinting — on the website or in the app.
No selling, sharing, or transferring of your data to third parties for their purposes.

6. Storage & security

This website is hosted by IONOS SE (Germany) and served over encrypted connections (HTTPS). App data lives on your own device under your control. Because we hold essentially no personal data beyond transient server logs, the attack surface for your data is minimal — but no system is ever completely secure, and SceneIt is early-stage software.

7. Data retention

Server access logs are retained by the hosting provider only for a short period for security and abuse prevention, then routinely deleted. Data created in the app stays on your device for as long as you keep it and can be deleted by you at any time.

8. Your rights (GDPR)

Where we process any personal data, you have the right to:

Access — request a copy of any personal data we hold about you.
Rectification — request correction of inaccurate data.
Erasure — request deletion of your data.
Portability — request your data in a machine-readable format.
Objection — object to specific processing of your data.

To exercise any of these rights, email info@sceneit-studio.com. We respond within 30 days. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority.

9. Children's privacy

SceneIt is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you are between 13 and 16, you must have the consent of a parent or legal guardian to use the app.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated on this website. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
